Archbishop Peter Jensen of Sydney on the BBC Today Programme this morning

Posted by Kendall Harmon

From the BBC blurb:

The meeting of traditionalist bishops in Jerusalem over the past few days has underscored the depth of the divisions in the Anglican Communion. Not only are they split over the issue of homosexuality, but as Robert Pigott reports, they are also divided on the church's relationship with other faiths. Peter Jensen, Archbishop of Sydney, explains what the meeting has achieved.

Strong endorsement of working within the Communion. Strong rejection of splits or separation. It will be good to see the final communique. +Jensen handles questions very well here.

Many thanks, Doug in number one, I have changed the link.

And to Dr. Seitz in number two, good pick up, as ever.  You would never guess based on some of the poor press coverage of this event that what Archbishop Jensen says about the leadership team discussion even happened.

I thought Jensen fended off the (artful?) remark about ‘loyalty’ quite well—having lived in Britain for a decade and now in the Commonwealth, it brought a wry smile to hear the language used—red flag before a bull. The incumbent of the See of Canterbury would probably wince at the suggestion (not least because of his own Welsh background).
