Yea, it’s pretty good for what it is.  But then, what is it?

I suspect just about anyone could watch this and not really have a sense of what Lent is preparing for, or what really happened on Good Friday and Easter, which of course is the point of Jesus’ mission, namely conquering sin, death and the devil on the cross, and rising again bodily (resurrection). I suspect this (the gospel) was the subject of traditional Lenten instruction, namely being baptized into the life, death and resurrection of Christ.  I felt ++Rowan was saying, “Lent evolved over time with a number of traditions, which to one degree or another, became associated with Jesus (who was a man discovering his vocation like us) and his 40 day wilderness fast and temptations, but it is really about new life, which happens in the Spring, which we associate with Easter, the time Christians traditionally get baptized.  So lets do some Spring cleaning of our hearts, and get ready for Easter or Spring (whichever suits you).”

Not a lot of Gospel.  But it was still good.

Actually this is the same as last year’s. Still, it’s good, and anyway how much is there say about Lent that’s new? For me it’s always the same old thing . . . repentance.
