Two packages containing explosive devices originating in Yemen and bound for two places of Jewish worship in Chicago set off a global terror alert on Friday. One package was found at a FedEx facility in Dubai, and another was found early Friday morning at an airport in Britain, sparking a day of dramatic precautionary activity in the United States.
Speaking at the White House Friday afternoon, President Obama called the packages a “credible terrorist threat against our country,” and confirmed that they “did apparently contain” explosives. Earlier reports had said that the device found in Britain did not.
The wide-scale alert spread to the United States on Friday morning, when officials isolated two cargo planes at airports in Newark and Philadelphia and searched them for packages originating in Yemen, and New York police searched a delivery truck in Brooklyn. None of the shipments reaching the United States from Yemen were found to contain explosives.

Big-Sis (TSA) response? More pat downs (grope sessions) of innocent US citizens as they try to travel. If that isn’t an unwaranted search, I don’t know what is! The 4th Amendment is meaningless now. The Constitution is meaningless. It says only what the rulers want it to say. We are a nation under mob rule, not a nation of laws. October 30, 8:57 am | [comment link] |

#4 That is speculation, and indicates your own bias. He was probably glad that his team stopped the bombings. That’s far more important. #5 Obama could walk on water and some would complain that he couldn’t swim. October 31, 12:22 am | [comment link] |

#6 Thats the kind of response people give to arrogant tyrants. Obama was supposed to be a uniter, but among his first words were; “‘We won - we write the bill.” So, he alienated nearly half the population almost immediately. The Democrats that rammed health care reform through under his leadership and priorities passed it without reading it or allowing anyone else enough time to read and understand it. He campaigned against Guantanamo Bay, yet nearly two years later it is still open. He campaigned against the war in Iraq, yet just 3 days after announcing that there were no more “combat troops” in Iraq, there was a major battle in Iraq and we still have tens of thousands of troops there. I guess the war isn’t really over just because he had his “mission accomplished” moment. The hypocracy is stunning. The hubris is infuriating. This election is a repudiation of his policies and priorities. His “world apology” tour was a miserable failure. All that bowing to foreign Kings and leaders only made us look weak, it didn’t mollify the Muslim extremists that wish our nation harm. His refusal to acknowledge that the Ft. Hood terrorist shouting “Allah Akbar!” as he gunned down unarmed soldiers was actually a Muslim terrorists just cuts against the grain on so many levels that his credibility is gone. It created a sensitivity with huge swaths of the population that are now looking at his words very carefully to see if his sympathies are with us or with our enemies. People now look for what he doesn’t say just as much as at what he does say because of his actions. He brought this on himself. According to Obama, there is no longer a Global War on Terror (GWOT), so when the president now says there is a “credible terrorist threat against our country”, people are thinking that either he was the most naive idiot we have ever had as a president or that his sympathies are with our enemies and he only grudgingly admits that there are Muslim terrorists bent on harming us. So Islamist would-be murderers in Yemen sent explosives to Chicago synagogues. And they claim the problem is Israel?
