Among the groups joining in the call for reform are the National Council of Churches, the Reformed Action Center and GreenFaith. Both the interfaith statement, which carries 900 signatures, and the Christian statement, with 1,800 signatures, express concern that toxic chemicals jeopardize vulnerable populations such as people of color, children and pregnant women.
"While everyone is exposed to some risk from toxic chemicals, communities of color and poor communities have far more toxic dump sites and toxic consumer products," said the Rev. Fletcher Harper, GreenFaith's executive director and an Episcopal priest. "The world's religions affirm our duty to protect the most vulnerable. We need a chemical policy that offers this kind of protection."

Agree 100% with Captain Warren. The fear mongering about chemicals is the latest assault on sound science and the ability to reason. April 30, 5:24 pm | [comment link] |

Thank goodness these brave people are speaking out on the single most important issue facing America. We have a $14T debt, a $1.4T deficit, oil prices are at $113 a barrell, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are going bankrupt, extreme Islam is trying to take over the world, while we have no discernible foriegn policy, the Mideast is a powderkeg looking for a place to explode, and food prices are getting ready to soar worldwide causing hunger and political unrest. These pale in comparison to chemical companies. And thank God the director of Greenfaith is an Episcopal priest! May 1, 9:07 am | [comment link] |

“Our current national chemical policy has not sufficiently protected human bodies, God’s creation, or ‘the least of these,’” said Cassandra Carmichael, the director of the National Council of Churches’ (NCC) Washington, D.C., office. “In fact, only 200 of the 84,000 chemicals in commerce have been fully tested for safety,” she said in a statement released by the NCC.
Liberalism and narcissism run rampant. What is meant by “fully tested”? Fully tested for what kind of safety? Only 84,000 commercial chemicals worry you? How about the literally infinite number of chemicals in nature? About the thousands of chemicals that make up your body?
One could forgive idiots like these except for one very revealing result: all the evil they project on to industry and chemicals (hey guess what, pharmaceuticals are chemicals) flies in the face of the fact that everywhere you have the developed world impacting human existance, lifespans increase!!!!!!. And they increase dramatically and immediately, not to mention the quality of those longer lives.
Every day, garden variety risk analysis, provides further insight into the blather these people spout.
