Procedural reasons? A revisionist Dean suggested that the COI Canons (on the basis of which the first resolution was drafted) contradicted a marriage rite of the COI liturgy. On this basis, the first motion was extraordinarily ruled out of order and the subsequent two withdrawn by their proposers. This caused some reaction in the Synod - and was greeting with jeers and claps. The motion, technically redrafted, is now to be debated tomorrow. Truly chaotic.
