Thrilling stuff.  You can see with this quality of debate why the Scottish Parliament has been such a runaway success.

The article on Mission and Ministry threw up these gems:

‘45 % of our congregations are less than 20 in number when they gather on a Sunday.’

‘Bishop David spoke of a changing shift to thinking about the Diocese being the place of focus for mission rather than the Province’

How about the local church as the place of focus ofr mission?

Guess they would be re-asserters then.

The thing to note from Kelvin’s notes is the (almost) overwhelmingly negative reaction to the possibility of an Anglican Covenant. If a Covenant is put together, and if it is anything other than vague in content, expect Scotland not to sign up to it.

Hi Gadget—may God show His mercy and bring all joy in this hard time. He knows exactly what He is doing—as you know well. Great blessings on your ministry and your people, Christopher Seitz

Wow! Anselmic, what a great blog. Glad to see you’ve gone public.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you last time. I do think of you.

On your figures: we had our summer holiday in Scotland (west coast, Argyll) last year. We went to some nice Episcopal churches and the people were very pleasant but the numbers were very small and, frankly, the publicity was abysmal. Some of these churches were even very hard to find: elementary things like public notices just weren’t there.

Come, come. I quite honestly do not believe that the Scottish Parliament could be that significantly different from the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives when either is weighed on the basis of thrill or degree of popular success. wink

Rob Roy - I defer to your knowledge of this matter; I couldn’t possibly comment.
