Notable and Quotable

If, as expected, 363,000 jobs were eliminated last month, it will mean 131.8 million people are working in the U.S.--the same as May of 2000. If another million jobs disappear by the end of the year--likely, without unexpected improvement--an entire decade of employment gains will have been wiped out. In January of 2000, there were 130.8 million jobs in the country. "It's not that those jobs weren't needed. The labor force has grown by nearly 13 million people," says Heidi Shierholz, an economist for the Economic Policy Institute.

Our government-sponsored media does not believe this is not an important issue.  After all, Michael Jackson died.  Let’s get our priorities straight!

Wait just a dog gone minuet, we passed the 787 billion dollar stimulus package that was to fund “shovel ready jobs” according to Biden.  If we didn’t pass the 787 billion dollar stimulas package we were promised by Obama that unemployement would reach 8%, I sure am glad we passed the stimulus package!  Now on to more deficit spending with the health care reform to help the economy, and raising energy costs with the waxman markley bill(cap and trade).  Cap and trade is really gonna boost employment because according to press secratary Gibbs this bill is really an employment bill (sort of like the stimulus package)!! Seems like the economy is finnally turning arounnd under this administration’s leadership. (sarcasm off)

Daniel in #3, last night’s NBC Evening News led with Jackson #1 and the employment report second.  Really a sad commentary.
