Thanks for this Kendall… I lived in Alberta for two years and have very fond memories of the people and country of Canada. February 25, 1:05 pm | [comment link] |

Nice piece. Speaking as a Canadian, I reflect Highlight’s comments. I may find myself often disagreeing with the political decisions coming from the U.S. - especially those made by the previous administration - but I wouldn’t want to trade the U.S. as a neighbour (note the Canadian spelling) and ally for anyone else. The US requirement for a passport has put a major hurt on travel between the two countries. Would that it was reconsidered, but it’s not likely anytime soon. What was once a pleasant last-minute day trip to visit a foreign, yet familiar and friendly, country is now not even a credible consideration for many families on either side of the border. I grew up with the family’s television “rabbit ears” antenna receiving almost as many Canadian as USA broadcast signals. The voices of hockey announcers Foster Hewitt, followed by his son Bill, were as comforting during “Hockey Night in Canada” as the news announcing voices of Douglas Edwards, Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, and Howard K. Smith. My fondness for Molson’s Golden Ale over most major American brands began with my affection for Canadians as cousins in history and partners in the stewardship of the bulk of North America. Whenever the USA plays Canada in hockey, especially, my heart both rejoices and breaks no matter which side wins! February 25, 6:26 pm | [comment link] |

Love the comment about the difference between the economies in Canada and California…I may find myself disagreeing with a vast majority of the political decisions out of Canada, but I wouldn’t trade them as a neighbor and ally for anything…I am thankful for their support!
