(RNS) Canadian Parents Sue over Religion in Daycare Centers

A group of Catholic and Jewish parents is taking the province of Quebec to court to challenge a government ban on religious teachings at subsidized daycare centers.

The parents say a Quebec policy that prohibits religious instruction in government subsidized daycare centers contravenes the federal and provincial charters of rights, according to a lawsuit filed [last] Tuesday.

On the other hand once government funding becomes so invasive and pervasive government strings are more akin to a contract of adhesion.  Such requirements could be voided as contrary to public policy or some other other limitation.

I am glad to see that Christians and others are challenging the secularists on this. St Paul was prepared to request enforcement of laws that favoured the spread of the gospel, and we christians should also be prepared to speak out. We may not win, and since our hope is in a higher place, it doesn’t matter if we don’t win. But we should at least throw out the challenge.
