Probably the most evangelistic carol service you’ll ever see from an Anglican cathedral, unless you’re in Nigeria.
Highlights include the boy soprano singing ‘O Holy Night’ and the Michael Card carol ‘Immanuel’.

Yes, I hadn’t heard Colin Brumby’s setting of ‘Jesus son most sweet and dear’ before, but it is beautiful.  Well worthwhile listening to.

My thought this Christmas has been how much more connected the world and Christians for that matter are - the technology has opened things up in ways we are just beginning to use.

Agreed - Colin Brumby - another Australian treasure -  is a new discovery for me and the duet is wonderful and beautifully sung.
The photos of Christmas around the world are another great thing - maybe the BBC will show some bombed churches in Nigeria, too? or maybe not ....

The tensions between the vested choir and music vs. the Jensen Enterprise are beyond words.

#4 I would beg to differ, PeterL.  Both proclaim in the Word and song the good news of salvation at Christmas - just as if you listen carefully does the liturgy and choral canticles of Matins and Evensong.  I thought it was brilliant, and a good use of the opportunity of speaking to many who will just have come for the carols, but have received so much more.

Put some of the baggage aside, and just sit back and listen as though you were a Sydneysider, perhaps coming to this service as an irregular or even a new attender, and see what you think.

Some days I sit and think. Other days I just sit!!
