This brings to mind the equally sorrowful story of William of Rochester (or Perth) who is the patron saint of adopted children. He met a similar fate at the hands of his adopted son, David in 1201. Here is the entry in the Catholic encyclopedia William of Rochester . Although William is the patron of adopted children, I wonder if he should not be the patron saint of adoptive parents. Prayers and peace to the Cavalcanti family. They took the risk of loving a deeply troubled young person and have paid with their lives - truly Christ-like. Rest eternal grant to them.
