Zimbabwe: Gandiya Takes Over Anglican Properties

The Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA) yesterday said it had taken over most of the properties from defrocked Bishop, Nolbert Kunonga, following a recent Supreme Court ruling.

The court, a fortnight ago ruled that Bishop Chad Gandiya's faction was the rightful owner of the properties which Kunonga had grabbed.

Gandiya's press officer, Precious Shumba, said although the CPCA had faced resistance in some of the parishes, most of the buildings had been taken by midday yesterday.

My eye was drawn to another story in the sidebar.  Two days ago, this story appeared:

Washington DC — SOUTH AFRICA, the incoming chair of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, yesterday urged the international community to support Zimbabwe’s efforts to benefit from rich diamond resources, saying the nation’s growing status as a major gem producer cannot be ignored.

Addressing the KPCS plenary at the US State Department here, South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources Ms Susan Shabangu, implored KPCS members to “stand together as a family and support initiatives to ensure that emerging economies effectively reap the benefit of the exploitation of their diamond resources”.

Then, yesterday came this news:

Zimbabwe: KPCS Clears Zim Diamond Exports
MARANGE diamonds were finally cleared yesterday when the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) took a landmark decision to withdraw monitors and allow unhindered exports.

The Marange Diamond Fields have quite a history.
